01/06 Ryan’s “Drastic Changes” Monday Morning Forecast
Drastic changes are moving in after last night/this morning's cold front moved through.
Drastic changes to the weather pattern we enjoyed over the weekend are moving in on the backside of the coldest front of the season so far. The front didn’t bring much in the way of thunderstorms or much rain, but the Arctic air on the backside already has temperatures falling. We started the morning in the low 50s (just after midnight), but Gulfport is currently in the upper 30s an hour and a half after sunrise. We will eventually start warming after the rising sun has a bit more time to climb, but only into the mid 40s…a handful above where we bottomed out this morning. That’s 15° below our normal for this time of year and it isn’t looking any better tonight. Expect lows to fall into the mid-to-upper 20s across the area, cold enough to consider wrapping exposed exterior pipes and drip indoor faucets…particularly in the inland counties.
We will start to warm back up, but I don’t expect to see consistent highs in the 50s until the weekend, and lows in the 20s will continue until Friday morning ahead of our next front.
