Zander’s Condition Improving: Prayer Vigil Tonight
Some good news this afternoon, the little boy who police say was severely beaten by his own father is doing a lot better and doctors are pleased with his progress.
Family members tell News 25 Zander opened his eyes this morning and gave his doctor a high five. While there is still substantial swelling, doctors say no bones are broken.
Zander’s grandmother brought him to the hospital after his father, Nathan McCrory, said he had fallen down the stairs. Hospital staff notified the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department when they say Zander’s injuries were not consistent with a fall. Nathan McCrory will make his initial appearance in court today. He’s being charged with felony child abuse.
A prayer vigil for Zander will be held tonight at the Nugent United Methodist Church in Gulfport from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
