Young philanthropist from Long Beach gives back to community
A young philanthropist from Long Beach is trying to make the Gulf Coast a better place with his own t-shirt business called ‘Traveling American.’
Inspired by the Long Beach community trying to save an oak tree, Michael McGill started making t-shirts two days ago in hopes of bringing people together regardless how they feel about the tree.
He started with an order for 12 shirts and it exploded to 1,200 shirts and counting.
McGill has a history of giving back to nonprofits with his family, who’s also passionate about helping others.
He has pledged 50 percent of his t-shirt profits to the Long Beach Police Department Animal Rescue and the Community Food Bank for Long Beach. McGill said, “It’s the satisfaction you get whenever somebody feels like they need to take on what you are creating out in public. I’ve grown up with a nonprofit that my dad and me have run since I was little. So, it’s just always something we’ve been doing.”
To help McGill with his mission, you can visit Traveling Americans on Facebook where you can not only get a t-shirt but also a tumbler.
