Yoho, Yoho a Shuckers life for me! Craig Yoho continues to dominate on the mound for the Biloxi Shuckers
The Biloxi Shuckers have found the win column in 13 of their last 20 games and a big reason why is the pitching rotation, both starters and relieves. Sports 25 had the chance to sit down with one of the best arms in Minor League baseball, and current Biloxi Shucker, Craig Yoho about all his recent success.
Yoho began the year in Wisconsin playing with the High-A Timber Rattlers and was promoted to double-A on May 30th. In his first appearance for the Shuckers on June 2nd, Yoho threw two innings and struck out five of the six batters he faced. Since he arrived, Yoho has pitched just under ten innings, has twenty strikeouts, and has only walked four batters.
“It’s a great feeling to be here,” he said. “It’s kind of a testament to the hard work that I have put in. The people that I have had around me have continued to push me and support me. I can’t give enough thanks to the coaches that have gotten me here with the Brewers. My wife has been an amazing supporter and, you know, it’s great to be here and it’s exciting to see where I can go from here.”
Getting here wasn’t easy for Yoho.
While in college he missed his sophomore and junior season at Indiana University after having Tommy John surgery and a knew injury that kept him off the field for those two years. Something Yoho says was difficult to go through, but now allows him to enjoy the journey he is on.
“I do the easy part now,” he said. “Going through rehab, that was the hard part, me playing that is the easy and the fun part. I am playing with house money and I am just having fun out there.”
Having fun and dominating, despite all the injuries. If you want to catch Yoho doing is thing on the mound, as well as the rest of the Shuckers at Keesler Federal Park, you can throughout the rest of the week as they take on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
