YMCA’S Humanitarian Charity Banquet raises money for scholarship programs

The Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA is hosting their annual Humanitarian Charity Banquet this week.

The event takes place Thursday at the Beau Rivage. The program starts at 6:30 and will include a sit-down dinner, live music, and silent auction.

Each year, they recognize a local humanitarian and this year they will honor Lee Bond, Singing River Health System CEO, for his and the staff’s work during the pandemic. Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA Wellness Director Joey Conwill said, “You just can’t say enough good things about Lee Bond and the hospital system and their employees. They have reached out to every area on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and done whatever they can to help out. We’re just thrilled to honor them in some small way.”

The banquet raises money for YMCA’s scholarship program which helps locals in need afford swim lessons, child care, and memberships, to name a few.
