YMCA Humanitarian Award and Charity Banquet

For ten years, the YMCA has recognized one individual in the community who puts their fellow man first and in return they are awarded the John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award.

At tonight’s banquet, the Mississippi Gulf Coast YMCA announced Shane Loper as the 2018 recipient of the John R. Blossman Humanitarian Award.

Shane is currently the chief operating officer for Hancock Whitney Corporation. He tells News 25 its such an honor to receive this award. “When you think about all of the people that have come before you, this is the 10th annual award, and they’re nine people ahead of me that are just absolutely stellar community stewards. And think about this, John R. Blossman, he started this Y and it has just been a great thing over the years.”

The YMCA had a set goal to raise $100,000 from tonight’s event. They were able to raise over the set amount to $101,017. All proceeds support the Y’s financial assistance program which helps assure that no one will ever be turned away from Y programs and services due to inability to pay.
