WXXV’s Elizabeth Keen has an update on the fire at Safe Mini Storage in Gulfport

We are bringing you an update on a blaze that fire crews have battled since early this morning at a storage unit in Gulfport.

WXXV News 25’s Elizabeth Keen is at the scene with more information.

The Gulfport Fire Department received a call around 4 a.m. from a passerby saying heavy smoke was coming from  storage unit at the Safe Mini Storage on Highway 49.

Over 30 firefighters from the overnight and day crew are out working the fire. The fire has destroyed 15 storage units.

Officials tell News 25 that if you have a storage unit at this facility to call the facility for information. Do not show up, you will not be let on the property.

Officials have deemed the fire as ‘suspicious’ and the police department is looking through video to see who entered the building.

It will take several more hours before the fire is completely out.
