WXXV’s Broadcast Student of the Year

This year, WXXV wanted to recognize the talent of South Mississippi’s broadcast students.

So, a few months ago broadcast students from across the Coast entered a news story into our broadcast student of the year competition.

After tallying up the public’s vote and a final decision from our panel, we named Vancleave High School’s Wade Taliancich our 2019 Broadcast Student of the Year.

Yesterday, we had the chance to surprise Wade in class to present him with the award. Wade says during this process he has realized journalism is a true passion of his.  “It’s actually a big dream to progress enough to reach people on a bigger scale and to try and change the world eventually or at least one person’s life.”

Wade was also presented a $2,000 scholarship courtesy of the Bannister Foundation.
