WXXV participates in ‘Shred Day’
News 25, in partnership with Navigator Credit Union and Shred-It, hosted a shredding day event to help the Coast protect their personal information.
Visitors from all over the Coast were able to safely and securely drop off old mail with personal information on it to the tent where it was properly shredded and disposed of.
Shredding old and unwanted mail is one of the best ways of protecting your identity and personal information from being stolen.
While some people may think tearing your mail by hand is enough, the team at Navigator says it is not. Navigator Credit Union Chief Lending Officer Andrew Wilson said, “Well sometimes people think that by ripping up the mail and their private information – throwing it into the garbage – that that is sufficient, and unfortunately there are thieves out there that will rummage through garbage and piece-mail that stuff together, so partnering with Shred-It to come out here, they have a secure way of fully destroying the documentation that’s sensitive, and that’s really important.”
Over 150 cars came out Saturday to participate in the event.
