WXXV News 25 Today Crew Salutes Moms on Live TV

Journalism is a pretty tough industry by just about anyone’s standards, but raising an aspiring journalist is even tougher – most of the time. Often creative, sometimes bullheaded, but always looking for some kind of scoop, it takes a special type of mother, or mother figure, to help mold, grow and keep kids in our field in line. Friday morning, News 25’s Today morning team saluted these Phenomenal Women. They are Lisa Goodwin, anchor Lindsey Goodwin’s mother; Linda Blackshear, anchor Jaylon Morris’s mother; Susan Eaker, morning live shot reporter Caroline Eaker’s mother; Cyndi Simon, Production Manager Shanna Dixon’s mother; Margaret Elizabeth Mack Harden, the late mother of production assistant Sherida Harden; Melissa Williams, the mother of News 25 Today Producer Porsha Williams; Tracy Shade, production assistant Taela Magee’s mother; and Yolanda Washington, production assistant Imani Washington’s mother.

And then, there’s Toni, the new News 25 Today Morning News Manager. It took a lot of extra help to raise her right, but here’s four of the women who have most influenced her – mom Cynthia Butler, stepmother Patti Miles, late grandmother Martha Patterson and long time mentor Linda Smith.
