‘Wreaths across America’ Ceremony in Long Beach

Military veterans who have gone before us were recognized and remembered this Saturday in a special event.

A ‘Wreaths across America’ ceremony was held at the Long Beach City Cemetery by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

Wreaths were placed on the graves of the nearly 216 veterans laid to rest at the cemetery as well as ceremonial wreaths laid for each branch of the Armed Forces, Prisoners of War, and those Missing in Action. Tina O’Shields with American Legion Post 1995 said, “It shows the local community that we still care for our brothers and sisters that have passed, that have made that sacrifice, to come out and say ‘we remember you, we remember what you did for us.’”

Long Beach was one of over 1,600 locations nationwide as part of ‘Wreaths across America.”
