Wounded Warriors Fundraiser at MGCCC Jefferson Davis Campus

Students from MGCCC Jefferson Davis campus have used their artistic ability to raise money for the men and women serving our country.
Plates and bowls were both crafted by students in two ceramic classes at MGCCC. Until 3 today at the campus commons, the students are selling those same plates and bowls to raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project. In the past the class has donated to soup kitchens. With the large number of returning military members at MGCCC, students helped choose the Wounded Warriors Projects for this year.
The plates and bowls may look great now, but the process to make them is a messy one. MGCCC student Dalton Anderson said, “Creating the base design was easy because it just starts out as a big rectangle with a bump in the middle. But everyone, as you’ll see soon, they did something very special with each of them. They cut out different parts and added their own flair to it. The plates were free formed by hand. It’s all real fun to do, but it’s very messy. So if you don’t like mess, you gotta get over that if you want to make these.”
The class requests $10 for each piece but any donations are accepted. If you miss them today, you can call 228-897-3736 to purchase a bowl or plate.
