Working together to beautify Gulfport

This Saturday, the Gulfport community is coming together to beautify its neighborhoods.

Gulfport Police Department is working with Extend a Hand, Help a Friend for their monthly community cleanup.

They will be cleaning up the area around Prudie Circle. Anyone who wants to join can meet in the parking lot of the Goldin Sports Complex located at 12136 Prudie Circle in Gulfport.

The entire family is invited to come out and volunteer. No equipment is necessary. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

If you would like to volunteer your time, contact community relations at 228-868-5703 to sign up. Gulfport PD Public Information Officer Sgt. Jason Ducre said, “Anybody can come. We encourage younger kids to come. I bring my little nephew out. He’s seven. He picks up trash with the adults and the teenagers. It’s family friendly. The more the merrier. It’s a good way to partner with our community and to beautify it together.”

On Saturday, the community briefing starts at 7:30 a.m. Clean up starts at 8 a.m. and ends at noon.
