Work on Ken Combs Pier in Gulfport nearly complete

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- In Gulfport, another one of the city’s piers is reopening later this month.

Work on the Ken Combs Pier is nearly complete. The pier has been out of service since Hurricane Zeta heavily damaged its back in 2020.

Work crews rebuilt the pier using new concrete pile caps and a flow through deck design to make it more resistant to future storms.

This news comes as the city just reopened another pier damaged by Zeta, the Fred Urie Pier.

City leaders will officially cut the ribbon on the new Ken Combs Pier on February 25.
