Work Center Shuts Down Operation
The Jackson County Community Work Center in Pascagoula is shut-down.
The center gave inmates the opportunity to contribute to society supplying them with limited-skill based jobs around town.
In recent years the Mississippi department of corrections has changed some of the guidelines that make these inmates eligible to participate in the work program. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell says that is what kicked the center’s operation to the curb.
A new agreement between M-doc and the county has also contributed to the shut-down.
