Woolmarket Kids Give Their Lists to Santa at the Park
The turnout was high, but the real judges are the kids. Haley Bosarge, a 6th grader at North Woolmarket Elementary, says, "It was bright, it was colorful, really pretty, and it was fun hanging out with everybody."
Samantha McQueen, another 6th grader at North Woolmarket Elementary, says, "It’s wonderful, it’s colorful, it’s really about hanging out with your family, friends. It’s awesome!"
Plenty of families came out to enjoy the carolers, hot chocolate, and even a surprise early visit from Santa. Connie Rockco, Harrison County District 5 Supervisor, says, "We wanted to do it to bring the community together, and also there’s a lot of pain out there and we wanted to make sure that we can just ease some of that pain."
The music ringing in the air and the lights dancing about were enough to lighten just about any mood. Ciana Shombert, a 5th grader at North Woolmarket Elementary, says, "It was very beautiful and extravagant to see such a beautiful display."
Several Harrison County leaders came together to put this show on for the kids and the community, even some who had to use their own money. Rockco also says, "We were told that we couldn’t put a display of baby Jesus, Joseph, the wise men, and Mary. We couldn’t spend county money on that, so I bought it with my own money."
Rocko says it’s important to remember the true reason for the season, but you can’t forget about Santa and kids are getting their lists ready. McQueen also says, "A iPad, I want an iPad and a go kart, that’s my favorite things."
Shombert also says, "It’s really about spending time with your family like I said, so I don’t really care what he brings me." Bosarge closes, "I have no idea. I really want an iTunes gift card for my iPad."
Wednesday night was a night for making memories, and kids slipping Santa those Christmas lists.
