Woolmarket Elementary School earns 2021 National Blue Ribbon Award

Today, Woolmarket Elementary School hosted a special ceremony to celebrate the school’s 2021 National Blue Ribbon Award.

Woolmarket Elementary School received this prestigious recognition based on the school’s progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

The national award affirms the hard work and dedication of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. Woolmarket Elementary Principal Kevin Roberts said, “This school has been here a long time. It’s the oldest consolidated school in the state of Mississippi. It’s the oldest active school in the state of Mississippi. It started in 1910. They have been doing school and doing it well for a long time. The community has brought into it so that’s really the secret of success here.”

This year, four Mississippi schools out of 325 were chosen for the National Blue Ribbon Award.
