Wonders of the World Book and Toy Store now open in Gulfport

There’s a new black-owned children’s toy and book store in Gulfport, offering a comfortable and inviting space for shoppers to engage in books and games showcasing different cultures with black and brown characters for visitors to indulge in.

Wonders of the World Book and Toy Store was once an online only multicultural children’s store based here on the Coast. After years of participating as a vendor at different Coast events, now the first store front is open to the public.

On 29th Avenue in Gulfport at the Elliot Holmes Building you can shop for multicultural books and toys for your children.

The store sells several forms of children’s media, all of which are either for or by people of color.

All of their merchandise is offered with the goal in mind to engage young minds and provide a solid foundation for growth. Owner Tonisha Kimble said, “Be a comfortable and inspiring place for kids and just a resource in the community. Because like I said even in 2021 a lot of people still don’t realize there’s a plethora of books out there featuring all different kinds of cultures and all different types of kids doing all different types of things. So, we want to introduce the kids to those types of things.”

This Saturday, the book store will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can always check the Wonders of the World Book and Toy Store on their Facebook page or online for more information and store hours.
