Women of Wisdom host a luncheon to empower women on the Coast
Women of Wisdom honored a woman who was injured while driving for a ride share company as part of their monthly luncheon at the Knight Nonprofit Center.
The women’s group honored Linda Buford, the Uber driver who was shot in the face by a passenger. She was surprised by a Hometown Hero plaque and was given a standing ovation. The group prayed over her.
Guest speaker Wanda Hilliard returned to the W.O.W luncheon as she does each February to focus on how to love yourself and God.
The luncheon has been going on for more than 20 years and continues to grow.
Last month, W.O.W welcomed 80 new members. W.O.W. Founder Robin Killen said, “We all come from different backgrounds and different stories and some of us were misfits, well that would have been me but anyways, so I was raised and I felt like a misfit and never fit anywhere and so we fit perfectly together here. Our goals are they feel loved and welcomed, but if they don’t feel loved or welcomed, we’ll make ‘em stay after class and love on ‘em.”
The next luncheon is scheduled for noon on March 8th at the Knight Nonprofit Center in Gulfport.
