Women of Wisdom Collecting Shoes to Donate to Haiti
One local group of women is giving back to the community by collecting shoes.
The shoes Women of Wisdom (W.O.W.) collect go to needy people in Haiti. Coordinators of the project tell News 25 this drive has been going on for over a year and the response has been tremendous. People have been coming month after month to drop off shoes for the cause.
Robin Killeen, founder of W.O.W., says, "It’s the Caleb Shoe Project and it’s shoes that go to the people of Haiti. We’ve been doing this for about a year and it’s such a blessing. So the guy, the child that started it, actually he’s a grown man. I’m just old, but he’s in Atlanta. They gather them here and they drive them to Atlanta."
W.O.W. meets every second Wednesday of the month at noon at the Lyman Community Center in Gulfport.
