Woman rescued from Flat Branch after vehicle goes over bridge overnight

Crash
A woman was injured when her vehicle went over the bridge at Flat Branch south of Duckworth Road overnight.

A vehicle went over a bridge under construction overnight south of Duckworth Road on Highway 49.

Gulfport Fire Department said the call went out at 7 a.m. about the blue four-door sedan laying upside down in the ravine at Flat Branch.

District Fire Chief Glenn Parker said construction workers from T.L. Wallace Construction said they heard a woman screaming.

Firefighters made their way down the ravine to where the woman was already out of the vehicle, where she said she had been overnight.

First responders were able to rescue the woman from the creek and get her to the roadway. AMR took her to a local hospital with serious injuries, Parker said.

Gulfport Fire, Gulfport Police and MDOT are on scene.
