Woman Locks Husband in Burning Home
A Vancleave woman is in custody after barricading her husband in their house and setting it on fire.
Authorities arrived to the scene on Ridgeland Road in Vancleave to find 49-year-old Michael Salter outside of his home. He claims that after his wife locked him in the bedroom of their home and set it on fire, he was able to force his way out and call authorities. Fifty-five year old Ruth Salter was later found hiding in the woods, she is charged with aggravated domestic violence.
Neighbors say they’re surprised something like this happened in their quiet neighborhood. Charles, a neighbor, said, “We don’t really ever have too much of a problem out here. It was kind of quiet and then there’s commotion, a bunch of vehicles all at once and swarming in like bees.”
Authorities say they’ve responded to several calls to the same home in the past.
