Woman dies in motorcycle crash in Waveland

Waveland Police Department is investigating a Monday afternoon fatal crash.

According to a press release from Waveland, Chief Mike Prendergast said officers responded to the scene of an accdident at Kiln-Waveland CutOff and Volga Street between a motorcycle and a dump truck.

The motorcycle driver, 27-year-old Morgan Pearl Bennett, was declared dead at the scene, Prendergast said. The truck driver was not injured.

“In speaking with the dump truck driver and other witnesses, it was determined that Bennett was traveling north on Kiln Waveland Cutoff and the driver of the dump truck was headed south on Kiln Waveland Cutoff Road,” Prendergast said. “Bennett crossed into the opposite lane, striking the dump truck.”

The truck driver’s name has not been released.
