Vancleave woman dies in fiery crash in Jackson County

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fiery single-car crash that killed a woman on Saturday.

Coroner Bruce Lynd Jr., identified the victim as Christina Osborn, 41, of Vancleave.

Deputies responded to the 7000 block of Old Fort Bayou Road on Saturday night, where a car was parked in front of a home.

Before deputies arrived, however, the car took off, speeding north along Old Fort Bayou Road, then hit a guard rail, causing the car to catch fire.

Osborn died in the fire, while the driver, identified as 34-year-old Michael Grimes, was pulled from the vehicle and later was airlifted to USA Medial Center in Mobile where his condition is unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Jackson County officials say charges are possible in relation to the crash.
