A Gulfport woman has been charged with making a false call to 911.

Gulfport Police said 41-year-old Angela Shavers was arrested Wednesday and charged with abuse of Emergency 911. She was taken to Harrison County jail and bond was set at $10,000.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call on September 6 about 5:52 p.m. about a drive-by shooting. The caller identified the suspect as a Gulfport Police officer. The caller gave a fictitious name when they called.

Investigators determined Shavers made the call. She had been convicted of her first offense of abuse of Emergency 911 earlier in the day. The officer who took Shavers to Gulfport Police Department for court that day became the target of retaliation when Shavers allegedly made the false 911 report.
