Woman charged with felony child abuse in baby’s death upgraded to capital murder
A woman charged with child abuse last week has now had charges upgraded to capital murder, Biloxi Police say.
An autopsy conducted on a child brought in to Merit Health last week shows the 5-month old died of blunt force trauma.
Biloxi Police said based on the findings of the autopsy performed on Tuesday, 20-year-0ld Summer Rose Hill’s charge of felony child abuse has been upgraded to capital murder.
She is being held at the Harrison County jail with no bond.
Police say the charges against 21-year-old Takavian Keivon Gibbs of Biloxi has not had his charges upgraded, but the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are still possible.
The child was brought into Merit Health on June 13 and police were called by hospital staff about a suspicious death. An examination of the child showed injuries consistent with abuse. Hill and Gibbs were then charged with felony child abuse.
