Woman charged with arson in Gautier house fire that belongs to relatives

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with arson in connection with a Tuesday night house fire in Gautier.

Gautier Fire and Police departments were dispatched to a home at 1717 Dolphin Drive for a structure fire on Tuesday about 9:30 p.m.

Firefighters found a fully involved structure fire when they arrived and a vehicle was in front of the house, according to Fire Chief Josh Latch.

Police Chief Danny Selover said one of his lieutenants found Britney Dian Langdon, walking along Dolphin Drive after the incident. She was detained at the time. After detectives arrived and began gathering information, they determined there was enough to establish probable cause for Langdon’s arrest.

The residence was vacant and believed to be owned by Langdon’s family members, Selover said.

Langdon was charged with felony arson. She is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center in Pascagoula.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and began investigating the cause. The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office will arrive today to assist in the investigation.
