Winter coat and blanket drive

One local woman is asking the community to open their hearts and their closets to help those in need this holiday season.

Carmen Dedeaux from Pass Christian is collecting coats, jackets, and blankets for people in need during the chilly months. Coats for men and children in all sizes are needed the most. They also need more blankets to hand out to the homeless.

The coat drive is in honor of Carmen’s late husband Michael, who was an Army veteran. “If you don’t need something or if you have grown out of something or you haven’t used it in a few years, open up your closets and your hearts. Just think about people out there that don’t have the bare essentials.”

Cold weather items will be collected until January 1st at the following locations:

  • Pass Christian Library
  • First Missionary Baptist Church in Pass Christian
  • Our Mother of Mercy Church in Pass Christian
  • Mount Zion Methodist Church

You can also call Carmen at 228-342-0177 and she will pick up your items.
