Window repaired at the Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum
The Mississippi Aviation Heritage Museum in Gulfport had its window repaired today after about a month and a half of waiting.
Francisco Gonzalez showed up to work on June 20th to find his glass window shattered. Gonzalez says someone had thrown a metal shackle and broke the window sometime between the museum closing on the 19th and the opening on the 20th.
Since the vandalism, Gonzalez has used wooden boards to cover the damage.
Today, Dixie Glass came to finally replace the wood with a new glass window after offering to make the repairs. “It’s great when the community comes together and helps an institution like ours which is trying to tell the story of John Robinson and other aviators. You know, we are a nonprofit so it is very difficult to come out with money for the repairs for something like that. So, we are very glad Dixie Glass was able to come and do it.”
Another member of the community who helped with the damage is former Navy Seabee Reserve Antonio Brown, who assisted with the temporary repairs.
