Willie Gay Jr. holds football camp in Starkville, MS, helping those in the community that raised him

The New Orleans Saints newest linebacker, Willie Gay Jr, is no stranger to the Magnolia State as he was born and raised in Starkville, MS.

Now that he is a member of the Black and Gold, being back in his community is easy as ever.

The Saints signed Willie Gay Jr. back in March of this year and now that he is just a little over four hours away from home, the former Kansas City Chief is giving back to the kids in the community that raised him. Over the weekend, the three-time Super Bowl champion held a free football camp for children in the Starkville community. While there, Willie Gay Jr. spoke on this camp and why it is such a full circle moment for him.

“I’ve been wanting to do this since I was one of those little kids,” said Gay Jr. ” To be in the position where I can host these kids, man, to give back a free camp and hope they have fun all day today. To be able to do this it is a big deal to me. I might have more fun than them. They are in the position that I used to be in, you know? Looking up to the older guys that have made it from here and now that I am in the position to give back it is a special feeling for sure.”
