Wiggins police warning against phishing scams

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Wiggins Police Department is warning against phishing scams going around.

Phishing is when someone uses a fake identity to trick people into sending personal or financial information.

Government agencies will never request payment using prepaid cards, gift cards, bitcoin, or any type of cryptocurrency.

The Wiggins police also warns that legitimate sweepstakes or prizes do not require a tax or fee upfront.

They also say military members overseas do not need assistance to return home on leave.

If you have received a call or message that seems suspicious, the Wiggins Police Department asks you to contact them.
