Wiggins Fire Department trains for water rescue and diving

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Wiggins Fire Department teamed up with Jackson County Search and Rescue for a little training.

That training took place at Flint Creek Reservoir.

The training focused on water rescue and diving exercises. During the exercises, crews used surface sonar to search and locate three submerged objects, two mannequins and a park bench.

Once identified, it was marked for the dive teams.

The divers entered the water and practiced underwater search patterns to locate the objects before bringing them to the surface.

The Wiggins Fire Department says that this training allows personnel to practice the same skills, equipment, communication, and coordination that would be required during an actual water rescue or recovery mission.
