Wide Receiver Tim Jones bright spot for Southern Miss
In some positive USM news, senior wide out Tim Jones turned out one of the best games of his career in Thursday’s loss to South Alabama.
The former Biloxi Indian had six receptions for 139 yards including a 47 yard catch in the second quarter to set up USM’s first touchdown of the game.
Perhaps something to build on during the bye week between senior quarterback Jack Abraham and his Biletnikoff Award watch list receiver. Abraham said, “That’s Tim. He’s a ball player. And I thought they brought a lot of attention to him once we started throwing the ball early, so I thought they played him well. But again, he’s a ball player, man. He’s always open, and it really makes my job a lot easier.”
Jones was first on the team in receptions last season and Thursday’s performance was only 20 yards shy of his career high of 159.
