When will Buc-ee’s open? A target date is in the works.
Anyone traveling west on Interstate 10 in Harrison County can see the progress on the Buc-ee’s.
But when will it open?
Harrison County Development Commission Exective Director Bill Lavers said look for the doors to open in May 2025.
In a conversation with Ricky Matthews on his podcast earlier this month, Lavers touched on a number of projects the commission is working on — such as the $500 million project between Chemours and PCC GulfChem to build a plant on property to manufacture chlor-alkalai.
The final point Lavers touched on in the half-hour program was to say that he hopes Buc-ee’s will be open by May.
He said the retail and comfort station outlet built its empire around having clean restrooms for travelers when they stop for gas, snacks and maybe do a little shopping.
“When you walk into a Buc-ee’s, it’s exactly the same each time,” Lavers said.
Lavers also revealed that the manager of the new store off Interstate 10 at Menge Avenue will be from Baldwin County, Alabama.
“They promote from within,” Lavers said. “The assistant manager will be the manager here.”
Lavers said he was happy to see the Menge Avenue overpass re-open and lighting still has to be added.
