What to consider before purchasing a bunny this Easter

Each Easter, hundreds of people impulsively buy bunnies.

Months after the holiday, these bunnies are often left abandoned in the wild. That’s why Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue told News 25 all about bunny care so you and your bunny can live together for a long time.

Bunnies can be costly animals, which is why adopting an already-vetted bunny may be the right choice for you.

Larger, adult bunnies are the safest to have around small children. They can sit on the floor and play together while a small bunny may get lost in a crack somewhere.

Baby bunnies can grow up to be completely different in temperament. That’s why Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue only adopts out adult bunnies. James Johnson with Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue said, “What they see here is what they’re gonna get. The bunny is not going to change that much from what they see, other than their personality in how they treat it at home. So, most of our bunnies are not going to get any bigger or any smaller. They are what you see here. So, they can come here and pick out the bunnies that they see here, and see which personality fits that person.”

If you just want to hang out with bunnies, Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue needs people to help socialize them. You can find out more at Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue of South Mississippi on Facebook.
