West Harrison High hosts Prom Promise event, shows real-life consequences of distracted driving

HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A powerful and emotional lesson unfolded Friday at West Harrison High School.

Students took part in the 2026 Prom Promise event, highlighting the very real dangers of distracted driving.

The program began with a student-led mock funeral, honoring classmates portrayed as victims of a tragic prom night crash.

Later, juniors and seniors witnessed a simulated crash scene, showing how one split-second decision can have lifelong consequences.

Local first responders, including law enforcement, fire crews, and medical teams helped bring the demonstration to life.
