West Harrison High cheerleaders presented with National Champion rings
The West Harrison High School cheerleading squad was given their rings for winning the Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship.
For some members of the squad, this is their second ring because the Hurricanes are back-to-back National Champions in the UCA large varsity CO-ED game day division.
News 25 met with the West Harrison cheer coaches to discuss what it meant to them seeing their team finally receive their rings. Cheer Coach Heather Serpas said, “It was a great experience because we did work so hard last year. It was very nerve racking, a lot of pressure because we were defending our title… so being able to finally give them their rings it was just really exciting. We actually designed their rings as a surprise for them, so this was the first year that they didn’t pick out the design. We surprised them at the end, so it made it even more fun.”
Cheer Coach Hannah Jones said, “It really did just mean so much to finally see their faces after all of their hard work that they poured into this season.”
The rings were presented at halftime during the West Harrison football game against Long Beach.
