Weekend COVID totals in state near 8,000 positive cases, state reports

MSDH is reporting an additional 7,839 cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi and 52 deaths for the three-day period August 13-15.
There were 30 deaths that occurred between August 2-15, and an additional 22 deaths occurred between July 25-August 9, identified from death certificate reports.
Locally, Jackson and George counties reported two of those deaths each, while Pearl River County reported three deaths.

Mississippi’s total of COVID-19 cases is now 388,986, with 7,813 deaths.

Outbreaks of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities have again increased. 170 outbreaks are now ongoing.
