Wayne Miller named Gulfport Chief Administrative Officer

The Gulfport city council voted unanimously to name Wayne Miller chief administrative officer.

Leonard Papania will be retiring from the position at the end of the year.

Wayne Miller grew up in Harrison County and is a civil engineering graduate from the University of South Alabama.

He’s worked for Gulfport Public Works for 14 years, beginning as a staff engineer in 2009 and working his way up to public works and engineering director for the city.

Miller tells us this is a new field for him to step into, but believes his experience working closely with the interworks of the city will help him achieve in this position.

“I know all of the employees

here. All the directors, I know them well. I have a great relationship with the city council that I’ve built up over the years,” said Miller. “And I’m just hoping that with me coming in, and my background and knowledge of the city, and the relationships I’ve built, whether it be city, state, local, county, federal… connections I’ve made over the years, hopefully, I can help move the city forward and see what happens next.”

Miller would like to thank the Gulfport City Council and Mayor Billy Hewes for this opportunity.
