Waveland to limit city hall visitors to appointments

Waveland is closing city hall to visitors unless they have an appointment, according to a notice posted on the city’s Facebook page.

“Starting today, August 12, 2021, City Hall will be limited to visitors and will require an appointment,” the post reads. “The Utility Department will be open to receive payments for services pertinent to that Department only. All deliveries are to be brought to the front of the building.”

The post goes on to share phone numbers of various departments housed at City Hall, including the Building  Department, the Police Department and the Court Department.

The city had posted on Aug. 3 that anyone entering City Hall must wear a face mask.

Hancock County has a 24% vaccination rate. The statewide rate is only slightly higher at 33%.
