Waveland officials investigating exchange between police officer and man in front of City Hall

Waveland officials are looking into a video posted to YouTube showing a police officer talking to a man demonstrating in front of City Hall this past Tuesday.

Today, Mayor Jay Trapani spoke with WXXV and said neither the city nor the police department would be making a statement until an internal investigation is complete.

The video shows Sgt. Joseph Joffrion talking to the man in the video, identified as Marcus Jeffrey.

The video was posted on ‘Honor Your Oath Civil Rights Investigations.’

Mayor Trapani said the city would have no statement at this time, pending the completion of an investigation.

He told us “We will release a statement as soon as we can.”
