Waveland business helps police find alleged stolen trailer

A Waveland business owner helped police by doing a little detective work to retrieve a trailer allegedly stolen on Saturday.
Steven Marcionette, 36, of Waveland has been charged with grand larceny. He was taken to the Hancock County jail with a $10,0000 bond. His initial court appearance is set for Aug. 18 in Waveland Municipal Court.
According to a social media post, a trailer was stolen early Saturday from Bayou Trailers in Waveland.
The owner and his staff watched surveillance footage and saw a white Ford Expedition take a trailer about 3 a.m.
Staff members remembered seeing the suspect vehicle around town, so some of the staff started driving around Waveland, looking for the Expedition.
Police found the vehicle at a residence on Old Spanish Trail, with the alleged stolen trailer still hitched to the vehicle and hidden under a tarp. Marcionette originally told officers he had the owner’s permission to take the trailer. Investigating further, officers determined that to not be the case and arrested Marcionette.
