Waveland Assistant Police Chief arrested on simple assault

The Waveland Assistant Police Chief and his wife have been arrested by Stone County Sheriff’s Department on simple assault charges.

According to our media partner the Sun Herald, Assistant Police Chief Phillip Pavolini and his wife were arrested on Monday after surrendering to the Stone County Department.

Assistant Chief Pavolini and his wife allegedly got into an argument with their estranged son-in-law on Friday where Chief Pavolini is accused of firing a gun. The assistant chief’s wife is accused of slapping the man.

Waveland Police Chief Mike Prendergast says Pavolini has been on medical leave and an internal investigation is currently underway to determine any policy violations in the case.
