Water Quality improvement funding in Gautier

The City of Gautier will soon see a major improvement in water quality.

Mayor Phil Torjusen announced today the city has been awarded $2.5 million in federal funding assistance by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve water quality and environmental infrastructure.

That funding, along with city’s already budgeted $6 million from a revenue bond, will ensure the upgrade for a nano-filtration water treatment plant that will treat three million gallons a day.

The funding assistance is in addition to the $2.3 million in Restore Act Funds the city received last summer to improve wastewater systems.
