Warming shelters are providing relief during the cold weather
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Cold weather shelters across South Mississippi have been open nearly daily since late last week, providing a safe place to stay for South Mississippians who may not have reliable heat sources.
With cold conditions expected to continue through the rest of the week, demand for these services remains steady.
The Salvation Army Center of Hope in Gulfport is one of two shelters that have opened up in Harrison County.
Shelter organizers say the shelters have been essential in keeping people out of dangerous weather over the past week.
