Wanted man’s face plastered on Highway 49 billboard

Gulfport police and Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers need your help finding a man accused of sexual assault.

They’re hoping a billboard on Highway 49 in Gulfport will do the trick.

Sterling Wingo is wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting and kidnapping a woman in Gulfport in 2021. GPD says Wingo did not have much of a criminal record prior to the assault.

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers Coordinator Lori Massey says they welcome any and all tips that might lead to the arrest of Wingo. “Whenever there is someone who has been on, especially for something this violent, I mean, he’s wanted for sexual battery and kidnapping. We want the public to know this guy is wanted, especially for the citizens in Gulfport. If they know him, some may not even know he’s wanted.”

Anyone with information on Wingo’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers or Gulfport police.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for tips made through them that leads to Wingo’s arrest.
