Walmart won’t be open on Thanksgiving

The world’s largest retailer is already looking ahead to the holidays.

Walmart says its stores nationwide will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year for the first time in more than 30 years. The company has kept its stores open on the holiday since the late 1980’s.

Walmart president and CEO John Furner said the decision was made so employees can spend Thanksgiving with their families.

Furner also said Walmart will spend about $428 million dollars on special bonuses for its full-time and part-time workers for working through the coronavirus pandemic.
