‘Wall that Heals’ comes to the Coast
It’s the Touring Memorial’s 40th anniversary and Bay St. Louis will be its first stop.
The wall is a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial that can be found in Washington, D.C.
The exhibit, when it launches March 24th at the Bay St. Louis Sports Complex, will be open 24 hours a day.
More than $3 million Americans served in the armed forces during the conflict in Vietnam and the folks at the Alice Mosely Museum wanted to give those Americans their due here on the Coast.
News 25 paid the museum a visit and spoke with some of the people who made this possible. Vietnam Memorial Wall Committee member Geoff Belcher said, “Obviously, the veterans, we owe them everything. But the Vietnam vets, they didn’t get the welcome home they so richly deserved, that a lot of other vets have gotten before and since the Vietnam war.”
Alice Moseley Museum Operations Director Lilyana Gandour said, “It was really important to me and to Lonnie Falgout that we bring the wall here to honor those in the community that have sacrificed so much.”
This event will be free and open to all ages.
