Waffle House Shooting Anniversary

Today marks the one year anniversary of a fatal shooting at a Waffle House in Biloxi.
Fifty-two year-old waitress Julie Brightwell was shot by 45-year-old Johnny Max Mount, a former Biloxi firefighter. She was working behind the counter around 1 a.m. when she asked Mount to put out his cigarette. He refused and shot Brightwell to death.
A vigil was held days later on the beach honoring Brightwell’s life. However, according to our social media partner The Sun Herald, no public ceremonies are planned for the one year anniversary of the shooting.
Mount’s trial date for the first degree murder charge is set for February 13th.
