Voting Reminders before Election Day
This time next week, we will have a new president of the United States. Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann stopped by the Coast today to remind voters of the following before hitting the polls on November 8th.
Voter I.D. is required in order to cast your vote. Do not take any pictures while voting and write in ballots will not be accepted.
Voters who voted absentee cannot change their absentee vote, but can override it by voting on Election Day at the polls.
There are over 400 election commissioners across Mississippi’s 82 counties and an estimated 10,000 trained poll workers will be working precincts on November 8th.
“We are hearing a lot of this ‘I don’t like either candidate’ and apparently the negatives on both of them, both the leading presidential candidates, are higher than 50 percent. Okay, well we believe that voting is a right, but it’s also an obligation. Each of you has that obligation to go pick one of those seven for president of the United States. One of them will be president of the United States. You get to pick that,” said Hosemann.
There have been several changes in precinct locations throughout the state. Three of those are in Harrison County. To find your polling place and view the candidates who will be on your ballot, visit www.sos.ms.gov.
